What is VIS?
The aim of VIS, a cross-government programme is to provide contact details and sign-posting to agencies and organisations who offer help and support with issues such as health amd wellbeing, housing, benefits and pensions.
How does VIS work?
You can already access support by calling the Veterans UK Helpline. The helpline is staffed by trained people who will be able to direct you to local and national help for a range of diverse issues.
If you have concerns over your health that you think are linked to your service in the Armed Forces, you should contact your GP and discuss this with him or her, making sure that you say you are an Armed Forces veteran. Remember that, under the Armed Forces Covenant linked to your military service, subject to the clinical needs of others.
It is hoped that the VIS provides you with reassurance that as a veteran you are very much a valued member of our community and that we stand ready to assist you.
